across salt marshes north of
San Francisco Bay
cloud soft grays
blues little fuzzies
illusion structures—pale blue of the edge,
sky behind,
hawk dipping and circling
over salt marsh
ah, this slow-paced
system of systems, whirling and turning
a five-thousand-year span
about all that a human can figure,
grasshopper man in his car driving through.
