The Obama Presidency: Telling the Truth in the Land of Guns
Some of the hardest moments of his administration--and some of his most searing words--came as a result of gun violence massacres. This is an excerpt from NBC News final interview program with President Obama. He calls the failure to get Congress to address gun violence his greatest disappointment. But it is certainly among America's greatest failures in the past eight years, due entirely to the Republicans now about to take power.
Yet this scandalous failure did not engage the public during the election campaign. So it is now a national shame.
There's some more general hope however in his evocation of separation of powers in limiting the damage one individual can do.
